A gate has also been built in the memory of Nawab Majju Khan at Galshahid Chowk in Moradabad. The voice Nawab Majju Khan raised against the British in 1858 remained loud even after his martyrdom. This voice became so loud that people from every corner of the country fought fiercely for freedom and liberated the country by sacrificing their lives. Today the entire country is saluting these war martyrs.

Demand to build a hospital and university in the name of martyr

Metropolitan President of Nawab Majju Khan Memorial Committee, Waki ​​Rashid, has demanded the government to construct a permanent gate at Galshahid Chowk and also build a hospital and university in Moradabad in his name. Haji Waki ​​Rashid said that Shaheed-e-Watan Nawab Majju Khan whom he called the last Nawab, said that Nawab Majju Khan was a towering figure in the history of Moradabad. In all of North India under British control, Moradabad was the last place the British could conquer. He said that the fort here was the last fort conquered by the British.

He said that when the atrocities of the British became too much, the people of Moradabad went to the Nawab and demanded to protest, after which the Nawab Sahib started the agitation. The freedom struggle also started in Moradabad, after which the British were driven out of Moradabad on 18 May 1857. The British got so scared that they fled from here to Nainital.

He further stated that the British conspired with the Nawab of Rampur to conquer the Moradabad fort. On 22 April 1858, Bahadur Shah Zafar, the last emperor of the Mughal Sultanate, his son Firoz Shah came to Moradabad, when he retreated from Moradabad, Moradabad was suddenly attacked by the British and the Nawab of Rampur, after which a war broke out in Moradabad. It happened, in which many people were martyred. After this the British entered Moradabad.

Haji Waki ​​Rashid said that 60 British soldiers went inside Nawab Sahib’s fort, Nawab Sahib single-handedly killed 60 soldiers. After this the British sent their army and shot Nawab Sahib to martyrdom and his body was thrown into boiling lime. When the carcass was bloated, it was tied to an elephant’s leg and carried around Moradabad.

After this, the dead body was brought to the graveyard of Galshahid and hung on a tree, and it was announced that no one would bury the body inside the graveyard, but the Baba of Galshahid there allowed Nawab Sahib’s body to be buried in the graveyard. By burying him in the cemetery, his tomb was built. He said that both Hindus and Muslims were fighting for freedom with Nawab Sahib. These people were hunted and killed by the British.

When information about Galshaheed was found in Moradabad district, it was found that this place is famous as soil of martyrs. The heart changed from Shahid to Galshahid. Here the letter was targeted with a message that we will do the same to anyone who speaks against the British. Nawab Sahib’s hard work paid off, the country became free and the British left here.
