The first Test match between India and Bangladesh in Chennai is over and now the second Test match is awaited. The competition will start from August 27 in Kanpur. Test cricket has returned to Kanpur’s Green Park Stadium after almost 3 years. In such a situation, there is excitement in the city about this but at the same time the police have made more stringent security arrangements because this time the situation is very different. To maintain security, the Kanpur police have launched a major crackdown before the start of the Test match and registered an FIR against 20 people. The FIR has been registered against the activists of Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Mahasabha, who performed Havan in front of Stadium Road.
Officers stationed outside stadiums and hotels
A PTI report quoted Kanpur Police DCP (East) Shrawan Kumar Singh as saying that the Green Park stadium and hotel landmarks of both the teams have been divided into different sectors, zones and sub-zones. Not only this, officers of the rank of DCP, Additional DCP and ACP have been entrusted with the responsibility of security during this entire incident. Not only this, for the successful organization of the Test match, the Kanpur Police has asked for additional security personnel, who will be deployed during the match.
The Bangladeshi team protested
In fact, the main reason for this extra security is the Bangladesh cricket team, which is opposed to inviting India and even playing a Test series against it. Since the overthrow of the government last month, there has been much violence in Bangladesh, with many cases of atrocities and killings, particularly of Bangladeshi Hindus. Due to such incidents, many Hindu organizations opposed the invitation of the Bangladeshi team to India. Meanwhile, some organizations threatened to interfere in these matches.
Similarly, an organization in Kanpur performed Havan against the Bangladeshi team before the Test match. The All India Hindu Mahasabha blocked the road in front of the Green Park Stadium and chanted Havan against the Bangladeshi team. Now the Kanpur police have registered an FIR against 20 people in this matter. An FIR has been registered against some people, while a case has also been registered against 10 unidentified people.
