The Transport Department in Maharashtra has again revised the fee for registration number of new vehicles. Now people have to spend a little more to get a VIP number in the state. Especially for ‘0001’ number, now the fee has been fixed at Rs 6 lakh instead of Rs 4 lakh. Similarly, the cost of the out-of-series VIP number has now been increased to Rs 18 lakh. This price of the number is more than the price of the car in the mid segment. The state transport department has increased the cost of VIP numbers especially in high demand cities like Mumbai, Mumbai Suburban, Pune, Thane, Raigad, Aurangabad, Nashik, Kolhapur and Nashik.
The Transport Department has issued a notification in this regard on August 30 itself. In which the transport department has said that till now the price of ‘0001’ number for four wheeler was 4 lakh rupees. It has been increased to Rs 6 lakh. At the same time, the price of two and three wheelers has been increased from Rs 50 thousand to Rs 1 lakh. It is said that such VIP numbers are generally in demand in cities like Mumbai, Mumbai suburbs, Pune, Thane, Raigad, Aurangabad, Nashik, Kolhapur and Nashik. Hence the prices have also been increased in these cities just for registration.
VIP number is transferable
In the same notification, the transport department said that ‘three times the basic fee’ for four-wheeler and multi-action vehicles has now been fixed at Rs 15 lakh. While for two-wheeler and three-wheeler it will be 3 lakh rupees. In the same order, the price of the out-of-series VIP number has also been increased from Rs 12 lakh to Rs 18 lakh. The state government has now allowed transfer of VIP numbers. Under this system now anyone can transfer VIP number to any member of his family including husband, wife, son and daughter. Until now number transfer was prohibited in this way.
