In a blow to the Jharkhand government ahead of elections, the High Court handed over the probe into the assembly appointment scam to the CBI

The Jharkhand High Court announced a major decision on Monday. The court has handed over the probe into the state assembly appointment scam to the CBI. It is alleged that appointments were made on a large scale in violation of rules in the Jharkhand Assembly. In this matter, a PIL was filed in the High Court on behalf of Shivshankar Sharma, after completing the hearing on it, the court reserved its decision on June 20.

A division bench of Acting Chief Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad and Justice Arun Kumar Rai of the Jharkhand High Court on Monday ordered a CBI probe into the irregular appointments in the Jharkhand Assembly. Assembly elections in Jharkhand are also to be held in November. In such a situation, this order of the High Court is being considered as a big blow for the state government. It is believed that the opposition may make this a major issue in the election campaign.

A one-member commission submitted an inquiry report

During the hearing of the case, the court heard the petitioner and the assembly parties, besides perusing the inquiry report prepared by the one-member commission headed by Justice Vikramaditya Prasad, the court took this decision after hearing all the parties. The CBI investigation said.

This matter pertains to separate appointments

The entire matter is connected with the appointments made at different times in the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly. More than two hundred and fifty people were appointed during the tenure of Inder Singh Namdhari, the first Legislative Assembly Speaker of the state. After this, more than 300 people were hired during Alamgir Alam’s tenure as well. It is alleged that in all these appointments, people have been employed in violation of the rules.

The commission submitted its report in 2018

After the matter came to light, the matter was investigated by a retired judge. Following this, a commission comprising retired Justice Vikramaditya Prasad probed the appointment and submitted its report to the then Governor in 2018. It is said that after this the then Governor sent the report to the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly for further action.
