IMD update: Yellow alert across state today, rain begins in Marathwada, Vidarbha

The monsoon, which entered Maharashtra before time, stopped before entering Vidarbha. But from today the monsoon has become active again. Rain has started in some parts of Vidarbha and Marathwada. At the same time, the Mumbai Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert in the entire state today. Monsoon has reached everywhere in the state. It has been raining in Mumbai and Pune cities since Monday morning. The Meteorological Department has predicted moderate to heavy rains in many districts of Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada and Vidarbha.

Rain in Marathwada, Vidarbha

Heavy rains started in Washim district on Sunday night with thunderstorms at some places. Turmeric and cotton crops sown with this rain have got good support. Farmers are happy with the rain. More heavy rains are needed to store water in the water project in Washim district.

It rained in the entire district including Parbhani city. Heavy rain started around 11:30 pm on Sunday night. Heavy rain will speed up agricultural work. Rain has started in Nanded. But farmers are waiting for heavy rain for sowing.

Only 35 mm of rain has been recorded in Nanded district so far. Heavy rains occurred in Aundhanagnath taluk. Therefore, Kharif sowing has intensified in that area. Farmers are also busy sowing cotton along with soybean, moong, urad.

22.5% water storage in Mumbai’s dams

Only 22.5% water reserves are left in Bhatsa Dharan which supplies water to Mumbai. There has been heavy rainfall in the dam area in Shahpur. The water reserves have decreased due to lack of rain in the catchment area. If there is no rain in this area for 10 to 12 days, Mumbaikars may have to face water crisis.

The intensity of rain will increase in the state after June 20

Rainfall has stopped in the state. But now rain has started becoming active. Monsoon will increase in the state after June 20. The Meteorological Department says that after June 19 to 20, a favorable environment will be created for monsoon.
