How Voda-Idea will move forward, Birla himself told about the company’s future planning

Kumar Mangalam Birla, Chairman of Aditya Birla Group, on the occasion of the inauguration of IMC and ITUWTSA 2024, explained how the Indian telecom company Voda-Idea will move forward and what is its future planning. At the same time, from the IMC platform, Sunil Bharti Mittal, head of the country’s second largest telecom company Airtel, also said that he is dedicated to building powerful India. Due to this, Mukesh Ambani’s son Akash Ambani also said that AI is a big need for developed India.

What is Voda-Idea’s future planning?

Speaking at the inauguration of IMC and ITUWTSA 2024, Birla expressed confidence that with the continued support of the Government, Vodafone-Idea Limited (VIL) will play its role in realizing India’s digital future. He said: I am confident that with the continued support of the government, we will play our part in realizing the Prime Minister’s goal of a digital India. I strongly believe in the transformative power of India’s telecom sector and see it as a bridge to a more connected, empowered and prosperous India.

How will the company progress?

Birla said VIL’s fundraising has helped the company kick-start its capital expenditure cycle. He said Vodafone-Idea has already announced the next phase of capital investment of $3.6 billion with three global partners: Nokia, Ericsson and Samsung. These are all important steps that put Vodafone-Idea in a more secure position and ensure that the company remains dynamic and competitive.

What to do to avoid spam and fraud

Birla said the most complex issues facing the government, regulators and industry over the past year are related to spam control and fraud protection. He said that as the network grows, the potential risk to the public increases, especially through phishing schemes, scam calls and spam messages. They undermine public trust in communications systems and also put people’s personal and financial security at risk.

Birla said VIL, in collaboration with the government and regulatory bodies, is making significant progress in addressing this menace. He said Vodafone-Idea is committed to delivering new and innovative solutions that will fundamentally address spam and fraud. Public awareness campaigns are also helping to educate users on how to identify and avoid spam.

Airtel is dedicated to building a powerful India

Telecom giant Sunil Bharti Mittal on Tuesday proposed that satellite companies pay license fees and buy airwaves for their telecom services, like traditional companies do, to provide a level playing field. Mittal, director of Bharti Airtel, India’s second-largest telecom company, said at the Indian Mobile Congress that existing telecom companies will extend satellite services to remote areas.

Satellite companies will need a license

In the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said, satellite companies aiming to reach urban areas and serve retail customers will also have to pay for telecom licenses like everyone else. The same conditions will also apply to them. Mittal said they need to buy spectrum like telcos, they need to pay for licenses like telcos and they also need to secure the networks of telcos.

Earlier, Ambani’s Reliance Jio had last week written a letter to Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia opposing telecom regulator TRAI’s recommendation that satellite broadband should be allocated instead of auctioned. Global companies such as Elon Musk’s Starlink and Amazon’s Project Kuiper support administrative allocation.
