Sunny Deol and Shah Rukh Khan worked together 31 years ago in the film Dar. At that time Sunny Deol was a big star and Shahrukh was trying to make his place in the industry. The film was directed by Yash Chopra and the action director was Tinu Verma. The film was on the verge of closure on its first day of shooting. This happened because things got very heated over a scene between Sunny Deol and Shah Rukh Khan.
There was a commotion during the shooting of this scene in the 1993 film, and it is said that Shah Rukh and Sunny Deol did not even speak to each other for years. What happened during that scene? This has been revealed by Dar’s action director Tinu Verma in a conversation with Ishaan Podcast. Tinu explained the whole thing in detail.
Tinu Verma said, “I was the action director on the sets. We were in Switzerland. I was very close to Sunny Deol. I was associated with him since 1979… The scene was that Shahrukh is caught torturing his wife (Juhi Chawla). Sunny catches her. Shah Rukh apologized to her. Sunil says don’t kill…scene shot. After the action, Sunny leaves him, only to be attacked by Shahrukh.
Sunny and Shahrukh are firm
Tinu said that on this Sunny Deol said that I am a Naval Commanding Officer. How will he stab me in the stomach? He said, “By then things had heated up… Sunny was right on logic. But Shah Rukh said that I am not Shakti Kapoor, Prem Chopra or Gulshan Grover who will be patted on the back. Due to the stubbornness of both, the matter escalated. Yash Chopra and Aditya Chopra were also there at that time. Aditya was the Associate Director.
Tinu said the matter has gotten out of hand. Meanwhile, everyone on the set was discussing how to do this scene. Then Sunny Deol got angry. He put his hand in his pant pocket and angrily tore the new pant. Tinu said I know Sunny since 1979. I was impressed by his strength. Later Yash Chopra called Tinu Verma and said that you are my action director. Please solve the problem for me I have to shoot tomorrow. He said, “Then when I came back, I met Sunny.
