Polling for 9 Lok Sabha seats including Basirhat in West Bengal is on June 1. Ahead of polling, Leader of Opposition and BJP leader Subhendu Adhikari on Thursday urged women from Sandeshkhali area as well as other areas of Basirhat Lok Sabha constituency to blow the whistle if they find any irregularities ahead of the June 1 polls.
BJP has fielded Sandeshkhali victim Rekha Patra as its candidate from Basirhat Lok Sabha seat. Speaking at an election rally in his support, Subhendu Adhikari accused the TMC of intimidation to vote in favor of the ruling party.
If foul play is suspected, women should blow the conch.
He appealed to the residents of Sandeshkhali that if they see strangers entering their neighborhood late at night, they should blow the conch, so that the people know that there is unrest in the area.
Kunal’s retort on Shubhendu’s allegations
Shubhendu Adhikari alleged that the Election Commission guidelines were not being followed by the TMC. He mentioned TMC leader Shahjahan Sheikh facing similar consequences of being jailed.
