After the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj fell in the Rajkot fort in Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra, the politics of the state is in turmoil. Opposition parties have been continuously attacking the ruling Mahayuti government in the state over the demolition of the statue. From Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Chief Minister Eknath Shinde have apologized for the fall of the statue.
Now Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has given a statement on the fall of Shivaji’s statue. He said that stainless steel should be used in the construction of the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. If it had been used it would not have fallen. A political controversy erupted before the toppling of a statue of the revered founder of the Maratha state on August 26 ahead of assembly elections in Maharashtra.
Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said that he has been saying for many years that bridges are being built near the sea. Stainless steel should be used in their construction.

Recalling his tenure as PWD Minister of Maharashtra, Nitin Gadkari said that when he was PWD Minister, he was building 55 flyovers in Mumbai. At that time a man fooled them by applying a powder coating to the rods used in the construction of the bridge, saying that it was rust-proof, but it was still rusting.
He said that for any construction it is necessary to use stainless steel in it. This becomes more important when it is 30 kilometers from the sea.

Gadkari said that if stainless steel had been used in the construction of Chhatrapati Shivaji’s statue, the statue would never have fallen. Maharashtra’s Sindhudurg district police have registered a case of demolishing the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Rajkot fort. A lookout circular has also been issued by the police against Jaideep Apte.
Jaideep Apte should not have fled the country. To prevent this, LoC has been issued at the airport and all other exit points. Apte, a sculptor from Thane, was commissioned to create the statue.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had inaugurated the statue nine months ago, but nine months later on August 26, the statue fell. Malvan police have registered a case against structural consultants Chetan Patil and Jaideep Apte for negligence and other offences. Even though Chetan Patil has been arrested by the police from Kolhapur, the search for Jaideep Apte is on.
