Jansuraj founder Prashant Kishore has raised the issue of liquor ban in Bihar. Prashant Kishor said that if Jansuraj’s government comes, the liquor ban will be lifted within minutes. He said that Bihar is losing 20 thousand crore rupees every year due to liquor ban. Which is going into the pockets of liquor mafias, corrupt officials and politicians.

Prashant Kishor believes that liquor ban has no social benefit, rather it is ruining the future of the youth and they are becoming playthings in the hands of the liquor mafia. According to him, the poor and underprivileged society has been affected the most by liquor ban and it is necessary to withdraw the decision so as to prevent looting of people’s lives and loss of youth.

Citing statistics, he said that since prohibition was implemented, 8.5 lakh cases have been registered so far, out of which 1.25 lakh people have gone to jail. Most of them come from poor and backward classes, Prashant Kishor said, adding that even though lifting the ban may not win women’s votes, it needs to be lifted. As this is not in the interest of the society, our aim is to save the youth from the clutches of mafias and strengthen the economy of the state.

Liquor ban in Bihar

Liquor has been banned in Bihar since April 1, 2016, and the ban has received a lot of support from women. The liquor ban movement, which started in 2009 from Sitabdira in Chhapra, took a big shape in Bihar within a short time. Finally, on the demand of women, the Nitish government banned liquor in Bihar on 1 April 2016. After which this ban is applicable in Bihar. Due to prohibition, the black market of liquor has also flourished in the state.

Deaths due to poisoned liquor, lakhs of cases, women’s movement and arrests increased political pressure on the Nitish government, after which it implemented prohibition. Prohibition has badly affected the economy of Bihar, following which their decision is being protested in many circles.
