IED explosives recovered from Naxal hideout in Chhattisgarh, major breakthrough in search operation

Ammunition and several weapons have been recovered from the hideout of Naxalites in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh. The incident took place during a major operation by security forces in Naxal-affected areas. Regarding this, Bastar Range Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sunderraj said that the operation was launched on Saturday night in the forests of Danteshpuram, Bhandardara, Nagaram and Korajguda. The operation was carried out based on information about the presence of Naxalites associated with the Konta Area Committee of the banned outfit.

He further said that during this period one muzzle loading gun, one tiffin bomb, switch used in Improvised Explosive Device (IED), 49 syringes, firecrackers, mobile charger, Maoist banner and medicines were recovered from Naxalites hideout. . Not only this, during this time a television of BPL company was also seized. The TV was recovered from a Naxal hideout in the hills near Dantespuram village when the security forces were conducting an anti-Naxalite operation.

The Inspector General of Police said that the TVs found indicated that a big leader of the Naxalites lived here, as most of the TV-like devices were brought for him. The IGP further said, ‘We have recovered laptops, printers and other electronic equipment in previous anti-Naxal operations but perhaps for the first time a television has been found. It may have been brought to the senior and big leaders camping in the area or they may have looted it from some villagers.

Security forces’ anti-Naxal campaign

Briefing about the incident, Sundarraj said that troops from both units of the state police, District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Bastar Fighters were involved in the operation. He said that the campaign was conducted in the forests of Dantespuram, Bhandardara, Nagaram and Korajguda. The IGP said that seeing the activities of the security personnel in Danteshpuram, the Naxalites hid their belongings and escaped. During the search of the area, these materials, which were hidden by the Naxalites, were seized.
