Maharaj Film Director Siddharth P Malhotra

Aamir Khan’s son Junaid Khan’s film ‘Maharaj’ is streaming on Netflix. This film is directed by Siddharth P Malhotra. Before ‘Maharaj’, Siddharth had directed Kajol’s ‘We Are Family’ and Rani Mukerji’s ‘Hichki’. Apart from being a film director, Siddharth P Malhotra is also a successful producer. He has produced many superhit TV serials like ‘Sanjeevani 2’, ‘Haasil’, ‘Love Ka Hai Intezaar’. Recently, in an exclusive conversation with TV9 Hindi Digital, Siddharth revealed why he doesn’t want to produce any TV serial right now.

Siddharth Malhotra said, “Currently I have no plans to do a TV serial. I can’t do the kind of TV shows that are coming now. My last show was Pashmina, which I produced for Sony Sub TV. It was a love story and I had complete freedom to make the story the way I wanted. I had permission to make 100 to 150 episodes of this series and I even shot the entire show in Kashmir. There was no TRP pressure on me either.

Can’t show women ‘oh poor girl’

Siddharth continued, “I deliberately cannot show any drama. It is not possible for me to show ‘oh poor girl’ for TRP, to show that she has been blacked out. Although many people can and are doing this very well, I can’t even think of doing it. Which doesn’t even cross my mind, that’s why I can’t do it. I don’t like to show injustice to women, because I believe women are progressive. Like me your majesty I have told the story of 1860, but even in that film I have not shown the woman as weak. The character of Viraj (Sharwari Wala) that you saw in the film is a strong one. The writers of my project are also women, so I don’t want to make content on TV that makes them look weak.
