No sympathy for the criminal

Sharmila Thackeray said that the safety of women is a matter of concern today. Every day we read in the newspaper that violent crimes are committed against women. After being raped, she is brutally murdered. What the politicians say, what the opposition says, what the court says… I have no idea about this. As a woman I have no sympathy for those who commit such crimes. The police who conducted the encounter should be commended.

The law needs to be made more stringent

On the questions of Akshay Shinde’s family, Sharmila Thackeray said- Ujjwal Nikamji rightly said that the longer the case goes on in the court, the more women feel insecure. In the Delhi Nirbhaya case, the accused have been sentenced to death after 6 years. Such a criminal was given the right to life for 6 years. Sharmila Thackeray said that we want a strong law for women which will give swift punishment to the culprit.
