Tickets can be transferred only once. The most important thing for transfer is that the ticket is confirmed. No standby or RAC tickets can be transferred.

As per railway rules, to transfer the ticket to another name, the name of the passenger can be changed at the reservation counter 24 hours before the departure of the train. Whether you have purchased the ticket at the counter or booked it online, you will have to go to the counter to change the name on the ticket. During this time, you will have to submit the printed copy of the ticket and the photocopy of the ID of the person to whom the ticket is to be transferred, at the reservation counter.
