RSS meeting is going on in Ranchi
A meeting of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh state campaigners is going on in Namkum of Jharkhand’s capital Ranchi. While the RSS campaigners will discuss the organization’s expansion and centenary year in the 3-day meeting, it is being said that Jharkhand will also be the center of discussion as it is an election year.
Assembly elections are due this year in Jharkhand, where the BJP has been out of power for the past 5 years. The tribal-dominated state has long been dominated by the Union. In such a situation, the Bharatiya Janata Party also has a lot of expectations from this meeting of the Sangh.
How strong are the Sangh’s roots in Jharkhand?
The first RSS branch was established around 1948 in Ranchi. In 1985, the Union made Ranchi the headquarters of South Bihar. At that time Jharkhand and Bihar were one state. To facilitate its work, the Union divided Bihar into two parts (North and South).
When Jharkhand was separated in 2000, the Union created 4 divisions (Deoghar, Hazaribagh, Jamshedpur and Ranchi) in Jharkhand to focus on the state. Even now the Sangh does its work in Jharkhand based on it.
Data related to Jharkhand was provided by RSS in the year 2023. According to this, 838 branches of the Sangh are being established in 540 places in tribal dominated Jharkhand. Not only this, in 2023 the Sangh workers organized 523 weekly meetings in Jharkhand.
Which is almost one and a half times more than the figures of 2018. In 2018, 676 branches of the Sangh were being established in 415 locations, while only 234 weekly meeting programs were being organized at that time.
In Jharkhand, the Union has also prepared a roadmap for 2025. Under this, a target has been set to establish branches of the union in every colony and ward of Jharkhand. The year 2025 is the centenary year of the Union.
Why is the union seat in Jharkhand important?
, In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP has faced a crushing defeat in the tribal areas of Jharkhand. BJP has lost all the 5 seats reserved for tribals. Even Union Minister Arjun Munda could not save his seat.
, Jharkhand assembly election is going to be held after 3 months from now. BJP has been in government here for almost 14 years since the formation of Jharkhand in 24 years.
Apart from Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir are also slated to hold elections later this year. In Haryana and Maharashtra, the NDA is in government, but the BJP has been defeated in both the Lok Sabha elections.
Will the formula to win Jharkhand emerge from Namkum?
In the year 2019 too, RSS held a meeting in Ranchi before the assembly elections. This meeting was organized in the month of September and was named Chintan Sukti. However, in the elections held in 2019, the BJP lost in Jharkhand. JMM and Congress alliance has formed the government in the state.
In such a situation, there is a debate going on about this meeting of RSS before the election, whether this time there will be any winning formula from Namkum, with the help of which BJP can return to power?
Tribalism and organizational challenge to the Union
The Sangh last changed its organization in 2022, but the synergy between the BJP and the Sangh was not good in the recent Lok Sabha elections. This is the reason why internal factionalism in BJP was exposed in many places.
Along with organization, the Sangh also faces the challenge of educating the tribals. The state is home to about 26 percent of the tribal community. The Sangh has been making efforts to help tribals in Jharkhand for a long time.
In Santhal Pargana alone, 8 thousand teachers of the Sangh are running schools. However, tribals are not moving towards Hindutva organization. This is a big challenge for the Sangh in elections and expansion of the Sangh.
