Rahul Gandhi, Yogi Adityanath, Akhilesh Yadav and Mayawati

Rahul Gandhi reached Hathras 3 days after the accident and met the families of the victims. After meeting the people, Rahul promised to raise this issue in Parliament. After Rahul’s visit, Congress and BJP are facing each other. Minister Baby Rani Maurya in the Yogi government has raised questions about this visit of the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha.

This visit of Rahul has increased the problems of Akhilesh and Mayawati besides BJP. That too when the parties of Akhilesh and Rahul are in the same alliance in UP. However, there is no reaction from either side regarding Rahul’s visit.

First understand whether this tour will hurt BJP?

BJP is in active mode after Hathras accident. The day after the accident, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath himself reached the spot. After meeting the victims here, Chief Minister Yogi said that no criminal will be spared. The government has also constituted an inquiry committee.

However, Rahul’s visit to the incident site could prove to be damaging for the BJP. After meeting the victims, Rahul has demanded to increase the compensation. Rahul has said that those who died are poor and need maximum compensation in these difficult times.

Rahul has questioned the administration and said that the entire matter will be raised in Parliament. It is clear from Rahul’s statement that the matter will not leave the government for the next few months. This time BJP has won the parliamentary seats of Hathras, Aligarh and surrounding areas in western UP.

Rahul Gandhi increased the tension of ‘Bhai Akhilesh’

Former UP CM Akhilesh Yadav’s party has an alliance with the Congress. In the recent Lok Sabha elections, both the parties won massively. In UP, the alliance won 43 of the 80 Lok Sabha seats. After this, both of them talked about staying together in the future. Both were also seen together in Parliament.

However, now the way Rahul has gone to Hathras alone will add to the trouble for Akhilesh.

1. Even after the tragedy, the Samajwadi Party does not raise its voice on Bhole Baba aka Narayan Hari Sakar. After the accident, Baba’s pictures with Akhilesh have gone viral. The SP’s silence is being linked to the Karhal by-election as Baba’s supporters are particularly influential in this seat. Karhal seat is considered as the stronghold of Mulayam family. In such a situation, Rahul is said to have increased Akhilesh’s tension by going to Hathras.

2. Rahul and Akhilesh sat together in Parliament. Their juggling act has made headlines many times, but Akhilesh was not seen with Rahul in Hathras. That too when UP is Akhilesh’s home state. Rahul going alone sent the message that it is Congress in UP that wipes the tears of people in difficult times.

Rahul’s visit also trouble for Mayawati

Mayawati is the chief of Bahujan Samaj Party. After the Hathras tragedy, Mayawati posted a condolence post, but even after 3 days, she has not come to the ground. Most of the people who died in the satsang stampede belonged to Dalit families and that too Jatavs.

Narayan Hari Sakar himself hails from the Jatav community. The Jats are considered the core voters of Mayawati’s party. In such a situation, Rahul’s visit to Hathras may affect the voters of this community. Either way, a chunk of the Jatav electorate has slipped through Mayawati’s hands in the 2024 elections.

According to CSDS, 44 percent of Jatvas voted for Mayawati’s party in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. 25 percent of Jatav community voters voted for India Alliance. NDA got 24 percent votes from this community.

Another reason behind Mayawati’s growing woes is the politics of western UP. BSP will dominate these areas till 2022. Still the party got good votes from these areas. In such a situation, if Rahul ends this dominance, it will not be easy for Mayawati to make a comeback in politics.

What did Rahul say on his visit to Hathras?

1. I have heard people and this is administrative negligence. There should be an inquiry and I will raise this issue in Parliament.

2. I want the UP government to openly announce the compensation. The dying are poor and need help now

What happened so far in the Hathras accident?

On July 2, a stampede broke out during a satsang at Fularia village in Sikandarau area of Hathras. According to the UP Police, the satsang was taking place under the auspices of Bhola Baba alias Narayan Hari Sakar. 121 people have died in this stampede so far.

After the incident, UP CM Adityanath visited the spot and ordered a judicial inquiry. The government has also announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of the deceased. An FIR has been registered by the government in this entire matter. Baba’s chief servant has been made an accused in the FIR. However, 6 people have been arrested in this case so far. Baba has appointed Supreme Court lawyer AP Singh as his lawyer to represent his side in this entire matter and fight the case.
