Mankunwarbai Women’s College is in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. 70 female students here were targeted by cyber criminals. He is getting constant calls from unknown numbers. Money is being demanded. Threats are being made to make the video of the students viral on social media. Out of which 45 students also sent money. Now the students showed courage and told the police about their ordeal.

A student told police she had received a call. He stated that he is Sub Inspector Vikram Goswami of Gorakhpur Police Station. He said he sent you a link. Open it. After this you will get an OTP. You send us that OTP. After this the fraudster started sending obscene videos on WhatsApp.

The victim student told the police

The victim student said that the fraudster started saying that a complaint has been received against you in the police station. Send money if you want to remove your name. If you don’t pay, an FIR will be filed against you, which will disgrace you and your family as your videos will go viral.

The student said that I reported the whole matter to the college group. But no action was taken by the college management. While going to the cyber cell to complain, another student also received a similar call.

‘Sub Inspector Vikram Goswami speaks…’

The third victim, a college student, said that she wants to study and become a doctor and stand on her own feet. But after this incident I am very scared. The student said it was Monday. As soon as she reached the college around 10:30 am, she got a call from the blackmailer who said it was Sub Inspector Vikram Goswami. A college girl has come to lodge an FIR against you. I make a video call, you talk.

As soon as the student picked up the video call, the blackmailer started making obscene gestures on her. He protested this and hung up. Then the blackmailer sent a message demanding Rs 40,000. He said that if you don’t pay, I will send this video to your home. Out of fear, the student transferred Rs 10,000 to the number given by the blackmailer.

Questions raised on college management

At the same time, Akhil Vidyarthi Parishad student head, Anchal Mishra says that Mankuvarbai Mahila Mahavidyalaya is a major college in Jabalpur, where around three and a half thousand female students from the city and rural areas come to study. How the mobile numbers and personal information of the students studying in this college reached the blackmailer is a serious matter.

Taking a dig at the college management, Anchal said that the students had informed him several times about the matter. But no action was taken. After this incident, there is an atmosphere of fear among the students. The Vidyarthi Parishad gave a letter of complaint to the principal of the college and the Madan Mahal police station and warned that if the accused are not arrested within a day, the Vidyarthi Parishad will be forced to protest.

Additional SP said…

Meanwhile, Additional SP Sonakshi Saxena says that a case has been registered against the accused under IT Act and sections of cheating based on the complaint of the victim student. Police are busy investigating. Efforts are being made to identify the accused. The accused will be arrested soon.
