Cars became cheaper under the Yogi government.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced a big giveaway. If you are a UP resident and are planning to buy a new car, you can consider the hybrid car option. Not only are they ahead in giving away mileage, but now the UP government is also making it cheaper to buy as their registration fee has now become 100% free in UP.

Yes, a cabinet meeting was held recently under the chairmanship of UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and it was decided to waive off registration fees for hybrid cars. With this, hybrid cars can now become cheaper by Rs 3-4 lakh in UP. But what effect will they actually have on your pocket?

Mileage up to 1000 km, this is how savings are achieved

In India, the government’s emphasis is on promoting electric vehicles. But this requires a battery charging or swapping infrastructure. The solution to this is hybrid cars that really offer “tremendous mileage”. In this technology, a battery is also connected to the engine of a car, which works to provide additional mileage. The charging system of this battery makes it special.

Actually, the battery of the electric motor installed in the hybrid car is not charged with gasoline, but works on the principle of regenerative energy. If you are from UP, then you must have read at some point in your childhood that ‘energy is not destroyed, it can be converted from one medium to another’. The same principle works in hybrid cars as well.

In hybrid cars, regenerative brakes are installed near the wheels. As soon as you apply the brakes, power is generated and this kinetic energy is stored in the battery with the help of electric dynamos. Then, when you drive the car and take it to a speed limit, it automatically switches to the electric motor. This saves gasoline in the fuel tank and gets good mileage. Now let’s take the eHEV version of the Honda City, in this car you get a mileage of up to 1000 km on a full tank.

This way you will save money out of pocket on registration fees.

Currently, the Uttar Pradesh government levies 8% RTO charges on vehicles priced below Rs 10 lakh and 10% on vehicles priced above Rs. While in different states there are different taxes based on the type of fuel, this is not the case in UP and the tax has to be paid based on the price only. Now suppose you have purchased a hybrid car whose ex-showroom price is Rs 12 lakh, then its registration charge will be around Rs 1.2 lakh.

In such a situation, the most expensive cars in the hybrid range cost between Rs 34 and Rs 40 lakh, which means there will be a direct saving of up to Rs 4 lakh. By the way, let us tell you that RTO charges are not the only ones levied on cars. In UP, many other types of taxes need to be paid on the purchase of a car.

Yes, if you take a car on loan, you will have to pay a fixed mortgage charge. Apart from this, registration fee, temporary registration fee, registration fee, Fastag fee and green tax are also to be paid. At the same time, for the development of infrastructure like parking lots etc., the government charges a fixed fee at the time of car purchase.

These hybrid cars are present on the market

The country’s largest car company, Maruti Suzuki, offers a full range of hybrid cars. This includes models like Swift, Baleno, Frontex, Ertiga, XL6, Granta Vitara and Ciaz. Some models from Toyota and Honda also fall into this category. Recently, Hyundai and Kia Motors have also started paying attention to this segment.
