Development of Vikramshila University
The history of Bihar has been very glorious in the field of education, the land of Bihar has been very rich for knowledge and spirituality, when India was leading in the world, this land had centers of learning like Nalanda and Vikramshila University. Bihar used to impart knowledge to the whole world. Students from all corners of the world used to come to study in this ancient university. Both these universities were world famous for learning during the reign of the Pala dynasty, but Bakhtiyar Khilji destroyed them and set fire to the huge library.
Now after almost 800 years, Nalanda University comes back to life, with the support of 17 countries, the Government of India built a new campus of Nalanda University near Rajgir, which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Along with this, the demand for renovation of Vikramshila University in Kahalgaon, Bhagalpur has also intensified. Leaders of all parties, party or opposition, are now focusing the attention of the government on establishing a central university in Vikramsheela.
What did the former Union Minister of State say?
Former Union Minister of State, BJP leader Ashwani Chaubey has once again emphasized the need to make Vikramshila University world class on the lines of Nalanda. He said that the university definitely needs renovation. I have met President Draupadi Murmu and requested her to come here.

Regarding this, Bihar government minister Shravan Kumar said that when the attention of the government has shifted towards Nalanda University, it has also shifted its focus towards Vikramshila University. Work is also going on in that direction and it is believed that the work of Nalanda University will also be completed only when Vikramshila University also goes ahead.
JDU MP from Bhagalpur Ajay Mandal has met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and requested him to visit the ancient Vikramshila Mahavir and also apprised him about the status of setting up a central university here. He said that a provision of Rs 500 crore has also been made for this in the budget, now concrete initiatives need to be taken for its establishment.
