Himachal’s Sukhu government has launched a new campaign amid the nameplate controversy

There is currently a controversy going on in Himachal Pradesh over name plates. Where Minister Vikramaditya Singh asked street vendors, dhaba-restaurant owners to put IDs in their shops. On the other hand, the party has said that no decision has been taken regarding the name plate dispute. Meanwhile, CM Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has made a big announcement in the state. He has launched a campaign to rid the state of drugs.

The CM announced on Sunday that his government is going to launch a ‘Drug Free Himachal Campaign’ in the state. With the help of this campaign work will be done to tackle the menace of drugs and their abuse. There are three main points of the campaign. The first and foremost issue is prevention. After this, identification of drug users is the second important task, followed by de-addiction of people will be the third most important task of this campaign. CM Sukhu said that his government is making continuous efforts to prevent misuse of drugs.

“Drug addiction is a major threat to society”

CM Sukhu said, this issue is the biggest threat to our society, affecting health, social stability and economic well-being. The Chief Minister said that the aim of this campaign is to save the coming generation from the mire of addiction and to ensure that people stay away from drug abuse. The government is actively working to achieve its target.

He further said, under the campaign, industrial zones, schools-colleges, state capitals and municipal corporations will be given more attention and several awareness programs will be conducted on social media.

Treatment facilities in expedition

The CM said, to make this campaign successful and support rehabilitation, consideration is being given to setting up detoxification and counseling centers in government hospitals and community health centres. After establishment, these centers will work to provide necessary facilities for treatment to the people. A special force will also be appointed to prevent drug-related crimes.

The CM also said that an advisory board has been constituted to carry out the campaign properly. The police department has published a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) which will help the officers to effectively control all drug related malpractices.
