Three days later, on Sunday, the body of the missing American citizen was found in a gorge between Lahaul in Himachal Pradesh and Tashigang in Spiti district. Trevor Bockstahler (31) went missing on Thursday during a trip to the Spiti Valley, prompting a search team to be formed, police said.

According to the police, the team searched various areas of Kaza and recovered the motorcycle hired by the deceased near a deserted area near Tashigang, but no trace was found. A day later, with the help of the army’s Dogra regiment, the drone identified a parachute stuck in a deep creek in the center of Tashigang on Friday, he said.

Police said that prima facie it appears to be an accident. The information has been shared with the US Embassy and we are in constant touch with them, the SP said, adding that the body will be handed over to them after the formalities are completed.
