A lover in Uttar Pradesh’s Kannauj district found it difficult to meet his sweetheart. The young man went to meet him at his girlfriend’s house, but the mob mistook him for a thief and grabbed him, after which they beat him up badly. Premi kept saying that he is not a thief. He came to meet his girlfriend, but no one listened to him and people kept beating him. Later the girlfriend told the crowd that she knew him, after which the crowd fell silent.
The whole incident of beating up a lover who had gone to meet his girlfriend took place in a village of Tirwa Kotwali area. The villagers heard some rumbling in the corn field, after which the villagers surrounded the field from all sides. Later the villagers said that whoever is inside the field should come out or else the result will not be right. After this the frightened young man came out of the field. The villagers immediately caught hold of the youth and started beating him.

The young man kept saying that he was not a thief, but no one listened to him. After this he said that he had come here to meet someone. His girlfriend got the information that the young man was beaten. The lover herself tried to save her lover by coming in front of the crowd. Meanwhile, someone informed the police about this.

The police who reached the spot tried hard to separate the young man from the crowd, but when the young man’s girlfriend came and said that he was my friend and had come to meet me, the crowd calmed down. Based on the complaint of the local people, the police took the youth with them. The police took action against the youth under section 151 and handed him over to his family.

After the incident, the local people said that theft incidents have been happening in the village for the past few days, due to which we are awake all night. This young man used to come here for many days and leave silently. In such a situation, today again he was hiding in the corn field, which made us suspicious and we caught him. A girl from the village came and said that she was going, so we let the young man go.
