Panic spread in the Aligarh district of Uttar Pradesh after the firing incident that took place today i.e. Wednesday. After a minor dispute in Aligarh Muslim University Medical Colony, firing broke out between the staff posted at the Registrar’s office. Two employees were injured in the shooting. The injured employees have been admitted to Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College for treatment. Police officers are present with the force at the medical college. Information is being gathered about the incident.
The incident took place in the civil line area of ​​the police station. AMU’s Proctor Prof. Mohd. Waseem Ali said- when the injured Nadeem and Kaleem were leaving the AMU campus, the attackers shot them dead. Kaleem-Nadeem are brothers. Both are posted in the Registrar’s Office. The identity of the attackers is yet to be known. But they are not students or employees of the university. People said that 5 rounds were fired. The motive behind the incident is not known. The attackers are being interrogated.

Similar incidents have happened in AMU before. In 2018, there was a firing incident in the RM hall of the campus, in which two students, who were brothers, were injured. A case was registered with the police based on the victim’s complaint. The attackers were allegedly demanding a ransom of Rs 3 lakh from other students. When the demands were not met, the assailants attacked with knives and gun butts. It was also alleged that the assailants tried to force some students to join the protest over the Jinnah controversy and shot them when they refused.
Last year there was firing in AMU canteen
In September last year too, a firing incident took place at AMU’s Jawaharlal Nehru (JN) Medical College. The assailants were allegedly demanding weekly payments from the canteen operator. When the operator refused, the assailants opened fire. The incident took place outside the canteen near the special ward of Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, causing panic among the people present there. More than half a dozen shots were fired, injuring a woman. It is being told that there has already been a dispute and firing over the canteen issue.
