The hearing on the bail plea of Abbas Ansari has been adjourned in the Supreme Court.
Abbas Ansari, the MLA son of Purvanchal mafia don Mukhtar Ansari, filed a bail plea in the Supreme Court in the Chitrakoot jail case. The court will hear the case on September 17. The state government has sought time from the court to file its reply in the case. After this, the court has adjourned the hearing of the case to September 17.
On behalf of Abbas Ansari in the previous hearing, his lawyer Kapil Sibal said that Abbas has been granted bail in all but two cases. He hopes that if he gets bail in these two cases as well, then Abbas Ansari can be arrested in the gangster case. So Abbas Ansari should be protected from arrest.
The Gangster Act was imposed during the Chitrakoot Jail
In the Chitrakoot case, a gangster report was filed against five people including Abbas Ansari in Sadar Kotwali Karvi. All these were accused of intimidating, threatening and assaulting the MLA during his stay in the district jail. While Chitrakoot was in jail, Abbas accused his driver Niaz Ansari, SP leader Faraz Khan of Karvi, Navneet Sachan of Karvi, a canteen manager, and Shahbaz Alam Khan, an accountant from Varanasi, of running a gang and extorting money through intimidation. A case was registered against these five on the complaint of Loko Sadar Kotwal Upendra Singh.
MLA Abbas is lodged in Kasganj jail
MLA Abbas is locked up in Kasganj jail these days. All other accused in this case are out on bail. Last year in 2023, Abbas was shifted to Chitrakoot jail in a money laundering case. After this his wife continued to visit her husband Abbas Ansari inside the jail keeping in mind the rules. On February 8, 2023, DM and SP conducted a raid and arrested Nikhat Ansari and his driver. After this, Abbas was transferred and sent to Kasganj jail.
The High Court struck down the Gangster Act
Only after the raid of DM and SP, the police had imposed the Gangster Act in this case, but due to some flaws in the case, the High Court quashed the case. After this, now the Chitrakoot police have rectified those defects and once again, on the recommendation of the DM, city kotwal Upendra Pratap Singh has filed a gangster case against five people in the Karvi Kotwali.
