Villagers carrying patient to bed for treatment
Even after 78 years of the country’s independence, many rural areas of Madhya Pradesh lack basic amenities. Even today the villagers are desperate for facilities such as roads, electricity, water, health etc. The situation is such that there are no roads in the village. If someone falls ill in the village, the villagers die due to lack of treatment. They have to be put on cots and taken to the main road. Only then an ambulance or hospital is available. The situation of Bhunwara village in Patan assembly constituency of Jabalpur district is a recent example. Where important facilities like roads have been lacking for a long time. The people of the village are facing great difficulties due to lack of roads.
If a person falls ill he has to be carried on a cot or on his back to the main road. The people of the village are greatly disturbed by this problem. They allege that since they come from a weaker section of society, they are being discriminated against. Villagers say that there is a severe lack of cleanliness in the village. Due to which piles of dirt are seen there. Due to this dirt, from small children to old people are suffering from all diseases. Communicable diseases are spreading rapidly in the village and the unavailability of health services has made the situation more serious.
Where did the development money go?
Villagers say that leaders of various political parties come to the village during elections. They make big promises of development, but as soon as the elections are over, they forget their promises. Earlier, Cabinet Minister Rakesh Singh had come to the village. He gave a check of Rs.3 lakh to the village sarpanch for building a road. Apart from this, current MLA Ajay Bishnoi also gave a check of Rs 2 lakh. However, the road was not built, although villagers say they have no idea where the money was spent. 5 lakhs amount is not accounted for.
Anger among people
Villagers also allege corruption by the village sarpanch. Money given in the name of development is not utilized properly. The situation in the village remains unchanged. Village women and local people like Vinod Vanshkar have expressed displeasure over this situation. It has been demanded that the government solve this problem at the earliest.
