These days only ‘Mirzapur 3’ is being talked about in the OTT world. This much awaited web series has been released on 5th July on Prime Video. With the release of the series, many stories behind the production of this series are also coming out. There is also a story that Anjum Sharma, the actor who played the character of Sharad Shukla, auditioned for the role of Munna Bhaiya.
Sharad Shukla’s role was small in the first and second seasons, but his character has emerged in the third season. He is seen troubling Guddu Bhaiya. In fact, the third season shows that there are only two contenders for the throne. One is Guddu and the other is Sharad. Well, without going into the story of ‘Mirzapur 3’, let’s talk that before playing the role of Sharad, Anjum Sharma auditioned for two more roles, the first being that of Munna and the second being that of a police officer.

In an interview to Digital Commentary, Anjum Sharma said that she came to know that a web series called ‘Mirzapur’ is being made. He was friends with casting directors Abhishek Banerjee and Anmol Ahuja, so he spoke to them. Due to friendship, he auditioned for the role of Munna. Anjum said that he did not have the aura required for Munna’s character. He was not suitable in this role. He said that even if he was the selector himself, he would have rejected himself for Munna’s role.
Anjum stated that he later learned that there is also a character of a policeman, whose entry occurs in episodes 5–6. However, she could not speak in that role either, as the role required a slightly older man. When that role didn’t work, Anjum started thinking that this series also didn’t work.
The makers then came to know that he was interested in working in the series and then invited him. When Anjum arrived, she was told about Sharad Shukla’s character. He is said to be a character, but only has an introductory scene in the first season. That role will be expanded in future seasons. Anjum said that he didn’t know what OTT, series, season was at that time. He liked Sharad’s role and then he said yes to it.
