This dog is a devotee of Mahakala
Sri Mahakaleshwar Temple is one of the twelve famous Jyotirlingas located in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. Devotees come from all over the country to have darshan of Baba Mahakal. A devotee of Baba Mahakal in Ujjain is in the news, who daily bows to the head of Baba Mahakal before performing his duties in the temple and then starts his work. It is reported that this devotee also kept fast in Savan. This devotee is not a man, but a dog. This dog’s name is Khali.
Dog Khali was brought to Ujjain from Shajapur a few years ago. Khali Mahakal is deployed to guard the temple. He is also a member of the Dog Squad team, which looks after the security arrangements at the Mahakal Temple, among other places. People associated with the temple say that Khali, the dog that comes to Mahakaleshwar temple daily to do his duty, is an ardent devotee of Baba Mahakal, who bows to Baba Mahakal’s head before reaching the temple and then starts his duty. This time Khali has also kept fast on the Monday of Sawan. This is the reason why Khali drinks only milk every Monday, while her diet is different on other days.
Security responsibility rests with Khali
Police officials say that Dog Khali, who came from Shajapur to Ujjain in February 2024, is responsible for all kinds of security. Be it an event organized across the district or the arrival of a big leader, the German Shepherd dog Khali does every job of security very well. Even when the President, Prime Minister and former Congress President and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi arrived in Ujjain, this dog was deployed for their security. It is said that this German Shepherd dog is only 4 years old, whose handler is Vinod Meena.
His team includes Doug Khali
Dog Khali has also been included in the team of Sub Inspector Mahesh Sharma, Constable Anil, Head Constable Vikram Singh and Constables Rahul and Mahendra, who work closely with him on a daily basis.
Sub Inspector Mahesh Sharma said that Dog Khali is included in the checking team of Ujjain’s Mahakal temple. On these days, Khali also fasts on the special days of Sawan Mondays. Although Khali is given milk and bread in his daily diet, there is a definite change in his diet on Mondays. On this day, instead of eating cake or anything else, he only drinks milk. Just as devotees fast on fruits and milk during savana, similarly Khali also drinks only milk on Mondays.
