Lalu Yadav, Hina Shahab and Tejashwi Yadav

Three months after rebelling, former MP Shahabuddin’s wife Hina Shahab has started her efforts to rejoin Lalu Yadav’s RJD. On Wednesday, he had a secret meeting with Lalu and Tejashwi in Patna for about 45 minutes. This meeting between Hina and Lalu has raised the political temperature in Bihar especially Siwan.

Now the discussion is going on that why these two met and why Lalu is giving importance to Shahabuddin family again?

First about Shahabuddin’s politics

Shahabuddin, popularly known as Siwan’s Sahib, remained a bulwark for the RJD as long as he lived. The top leadership of RJD also had complete faith in Shahabuddin. After being first elected as an independent MLA from Jiradei in 1990, Shahabuddin has not looked back.

An independent MLA, he joined the Janata Dal in 1995 and then the RJD. RJD gave him ticket from Siwan Lok Sabha seat and he won. It is said that at one time only Shahabuddin Saran was finalizing the commissionerate ticket. Shahabuddin was MP from Siwan till 2004.

As soon as the MP left, Shahabuddin’s bad days began. First he was sent to Patna and then Tihar Jail in Delhi. He died due to Corona in the year 2021.

When Shahabuddin left, Hina distanced herself from the Lalu family.

According to political experts, Shahabuddin’s bitterness with RJD started growing even before his death. The main reason was that Hina did not win the election. Hina lost elections in 2014 and 2019, that too when Sivan is a Muslim and Yadav dominated seat.

At the time of Shahabuddin’s death in 2021, his family demanded that his body be brought to Sivan, but the RJD did not take the initiative. Since then, Shahabuddin’s family started to drift away from the Lalu family.

Hina had started talking about contesting the Lok Sabha again from the RJD in the 2024 elections, but decided to contest as an independent. Hina stood second in this election. The RJD candidate came third. The reason why Hina contested as an independent was to get votes from all communities. In the election he said that all colors are ours and I want everyone’s love.

Why Lalu-Shahabuddin families are getting together?

Speaking on condition of anonymity about the meeting between Lalu Prasad and Hina Shahab, a senior RJD official said that both parties have talked about coming together, forgetting old issues. It is being said that Hina Shahab has also shown a positive attitude towards all these things. The special thing is that this important meeting was held at the house of a senior RJD MLC on Boring Road in the capital.

The Shahabuddin family currently holds no political office. Even in Saran Commissionerate, RJD is very weak. Out of the 4 seats in Sivan, RJD does not have a single seat. JDU has won Gopalganj and Siwan seats of Saran Commissionerate, while BJP has won Chhapra and Maharajganj seats.

Apart from these two issues, Prashant Kishor has also emerged as a factor. Speaking to TV-9, senior journalist Sanjay Upadhyay says that there is not just one but many equations with Hina Shahab. While Lalu Prasad wants to keep his traditional My equation intact by bringing Hina Shahab with the RJD family, on the other hand he wants to strengthen the grand alliance in Saran Commissionerate as well. eye

In fact, PK has recently launched a campaign to woo Muslim voters. If PK succeeds in this campaign, it will directly hurt RJD.
