Two factions of the Namdhari sect opened fire on each other over an old land dispute in Haryana’s Sirsa district on Sunday, injuring eight people in the incident. Police said that a case has been registered in this regard. As soon as the police reached the spot on receiving information about the firing, miscreants also fired at them.
Seeing this, the first policeman ran to save his life. After this the crowd was dispersed by firing tear gas shells from there. After the violent encounter, SP Vikrant Bhushan reached the spot along with the police force. In view of the tense situation, police arrangements have been made in Jeevan Nagar area.
A police official said that two groups belonging to the Namdhari sect had a heated argument over a piece of land in Sirsa’s Rania, after which people from both groups opened fire, injuring eight people. Police said that after reaching the spot, they brought the situation under control and the injured were taken to Agroha Medical College. Police said that a case has been registered in this matter and investigation is on and heavy police deployment has been made in Rania.
