Haryana Elections Candidates for Chief Minister’s Office Everywhere, Know Who Are the 11 Contenders?

How much do you know about these 11 CM contenders?

For the first time, more than 10 contenders for the post of Chief Minister have come forward in the Haryana assembly elections. Out of which four are from the same district Hisar. Two contenders each for the CM post are from Jind and Rohtak. From the point of view of the parties, Congress has the maximum five contenders for the post of Chief Minister. 3 from BJP and 3 from other smaller parties are contenders. Among these contenders are two contenders who have reached the post of Chief Minister.

1. Naib Singh Saini- Naib Singh Saini, who assumed the post of Chief Minister in March this year, is the biggest contender for the post of Chief Minister from the BJP. Naib is a resident of Kurukshetra and is currently contesting MLA election from Ladwa seat of this district.

Naib Singh Saini started his political career with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. Saini has also been an MLA, MP and Minister in the Haryana government. Before becoming the chief minister, he was the state president of the BJP in Haryana.

2. Bhupinder Singh Hooda- Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Bhupinder Singh Hooda is the top contender for the Chief Minister post from the Congress. Hooda, a native of Rohtak, has also been the Chief Minister of Haryana twice. Hooda is considered close to the Congress high command.

Huda joined politics after leaving advocacy and has been an MLA and Lok Sabha MP. He started his career as the president of the Block Congress Committee.

3. Dipendra Singh Hooda- Bhupinder Singh Hooda’s son Dipendra Singh Hooda is also a contender for the CM post. Dipendra had recently launched the Haryana Mange Hisab Abhiyan under the Congress banner. It is being said that if the Congress gets more than 60 seats in the 90-seat Haryana Assembly, Dipendra may be made the Chief Minister.

Another factor behind the debate over Dipendra’s name is Sr. Hooda’s age. Bhupinder Singh Hooda is currently 76 years old.

4. Kumari Selja- Former Union Minister and Congress General Secretary Kumari Selja has also staked her claim for the post of Chief Minister. Recently while speaking exclusively to TV-9 Bharatvarsh, Selja said that I am a Dalit and why can’t I become the Chief Minister?

According to Selja, in 2004, the Congress ticket was distributed at Bhajanlal’s behest, but when it came time to become the CM, Bhupinder Hooda’s name was put forward.

Originally from Hisar, Selja inherited politics. His father Chaudhary Dalbir Singh was a veteran Congress leader.

5. Udayabhan- Congress state president Chaudhary Udaybhan is also in the race for the CM post. Udaybhan is also contesting from Hodal seat. It is being said that if it comes to making a Dalit the Chief Minister, the Hooda camp can put forward the name of Udayabhan.

Udaybhan inherited politics. His father Gyalal has been a member of the Haryana Legislative Assembly. Udaybhan hails from Palwal district.

6. Kuldeep Bishnoi- Former CM Bhajan Lal’s political heir Kuldeep Bishnoi is also a contender for the post of Chief Minister. Recently he expressed his claim in an interview. Kuldeep Bishnoi has been MLA and MP.

Hisar’s resident Kuldeep’s son Bhavya is contesting the MLA election from Hisar’s Adampur seat. Kuldeep, who started his political career from the Congress, has also formed his own party called Hazkan. Currently he is in Bharatiya Janata Party.

7. Rao Indrajit Singh- Modi government minister Rao Indrajit Singh has also claimed for the post of chief minister. Two days ago, during a program in Haryana, Indrajit said that the supporters want, but the decision has to be taken by the party.

He also accused of neglecting South Haryana (Ahir Patta). Rao Indrajit Singh, who started his political career from Congress, has won the MP seat 6 times. It is believed to have a strong hold in the Ahir belt of Haryana. He is a resident of Rewari.

8. Randeep Surjewala- Congress National General Secretary Randeep Surjewala is also a contender for the post of Chief Minister. Surjewala, who entered politics through advocacy, first came into limelight when he defeated former Haryana Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala in the 1996 elections.

Randeep Surjewala has been a minister in the Haryana government. Surjewala became active in Delhi politics in 2014 after the crushing defeat of Congress across the country. He looked after the communication department. Surjewala, a resident of Jind, is currently a Rajya Sabha MP and the in-charge general secretary of Karnataka.

9. Sushil Gupta- Aam Aadmi Party Haryana State President Sushil Gupta is also a contender for the post of Chief Minister. However, his party has not officially announced it yet. Gupta, who joined AAP from Congress, has also been a Rajya Sabha MP.

Gupta also contested the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from Kurukshetra, but could not win against BJP’s Naveen Jindal. Jind resident Sushil Gupta is currently the biggest face of AAP in Haryana.

10. Dushyant Chautala- Former Deputy CM Dushyant Chautala is also a contender for the post of Chief Minister. Chautala’s party JJP has contested elections in Haryana in alliance with Chandrashekhar’s party Azad Samaj Party. Dushyant won 10 seats in the 2019 elections and his party was playing the role of kingmaker in the Haryana government.

Dushyant is claiming to be the king this time. A resident of Hisar, Dushyant himself inherited politics.

11. Abhay Chautala- Dushyant’s uncle and INLD leader Abhay Chautala is also a CM contender. Abhay Mayawati’s party is contesting the election in alliance with the Bahujan Samaj Party. Abhay is also the declared face of the alliance.

Abhay’s father Om Prakash Chautala has also been the Chief Minister of Haryana three times. His grandfather Devilal has also been the Chief Minister of Haryana and the Deputy Prime Minister of India.
