The country’s star wrestler Vinesh Phogat has now entered the political arena, Vinesh Phogat has announced on his social media handle that he will go to.

Along with Vinesh Phogat, MP Dipendra Singh Hooda and Sonipat Lok Sabha MP Satpal Brahmachari will also go to file nominations. Vinesh Phogat tweeted on this occasion and said, I am going to file my nomination as a Congress candidate from Julana Assembly. I humbly request you all to join me on this momentous occasion with your blessings and support.

Started a political journey

The country’s star wrestlers Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia began their political journey on 6 September and both joined the Congress party in the presence of party president Mallikarjun Kharge. Even earlier when the two wrestlers met Congress veteran Rahul Gandhi on September 4, there were speculations that the two might be part of the party, which came true. However, soon after he joined the party, the party has expressed confidence in Vinesh Phogat and fielded him.

Missed out on winning gold at the Olympics

Vinesh Phogat missed out on a gold medal at the Paris Olympics and was not even awarded a silver medal. Vinesh Phogat had a brilliant innings at the Olympics by defeating three wrestlers in a row, after which the hopes of the entire country were pinned on him and all were waiting for the gold medal, but he was disqualified due to a slight increase in weight. Due to this she was disqualified. Vinesh Phogat announced his retirement after the Olympics.

Congress had supported earlier too

Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia were seen on the streets in Delhi in 2023 against the then head of the BJP’s Indian Wrestling Federation Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, who protested for a long time, wrestler Sakshi Malik also participated in the movement. Wrestlers protested on the streets of Delhi against the allegations of sexual harassment against Brij Bhushan, during which the Congress also openly supported these wrestlers, after which both the wrestlers have now become part of the Congress party.
