Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge
Assembly election bugle has sounded in Jammu and Kashmir. Political parties are ready to enter the election fray. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi went on a two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday. Addressing the activists, Kharge said that if the Congress had won 25 more seats in some states in the Lok Sabha elections, Rahul Gandhi would have become the Prime Minister. He appealed to the workers to work hard to ensure victory in the upcoming assembly elections.
The Congress president said the party’s aim is to restore statehood to Jammu and Kashmir and remove Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP from power. He criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for making Jammu and Kashmir a union territory and said he was arrogant despite his poor performance in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections.
Work hard… winning is important – Khadge
Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge told the workers in Srinagar that, we may not have won seats from here in the parliamentary elections, but the ‘Indian National Democratic Inclusive Alliance’ (India) has won many seats from here. If we had got five seats each in Jammu and Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and other states. If we had got total 25 seats then our leader Rahul Gandhi would have become Prime Minister. Appealing to the party workers to work hard, he said that winning is necessary, victory cannot be achieved with mere words. If we keep talking without working at the ground level, we will not win.
Nations Conference and Congress will contest the elections in alliance
After addressing the workers, Congress President and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi met National Conference leaders Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah. After this meeting, Farooq Abdullah said that NC and Congress will contest all 90 seats in alliance. We are one, including CPIM, all parties of India are one in alliance, he said. Meanwhile, the NC chief also talked about an alliance with Mehbooba Mufti’s party PDP and said that the doors are not closed for anyone.
