Police reached the spot
A security guard deployed to protect Bharatiya Janata Party leader Manoj Singh in Uttar Pradesh’s Jaunpur has been shot dead. The name of the deceased constable is Ratnesh Prajapati. He was cleaning his carbine. Meanwhile, he was injured due to firing. He was immediately rushed to the district hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. Manoj Singh was not at home at the time of the incident.
Manoj Singh, a resident of Baburi village in Barsathi police station area, was a BJP candidate in Malha by-election in 2020. Two policemen were deployed for their security. On Sunday morning, Constable Rajat Pandey, who was posted to protect the deceased Ratnesh Prajapati and Manoj Singh, was at the BJP leader’s house. Meanwhile, suddenly the sound of firing was heard.
Manoj was covered in blood
When Manoj Singh’s cook Awanish Shukla and another constable Rajat Pandey reached the spot, they found Ratnesh Prajapati, who was posted as security, lying on the ground in a pool of blood. Both people immediately informed the police from Barasat. On receiving information, the police reached and took the injured constable to the district hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
SP reached the spot
Jaunpur Superintendent of Police Dr. Ajay Pal Sharma and other police officers reached the spot and collected information. However, the field unit and forensic teams are busy investigating how the constable was shot.

Regarding this, Jaunpur Additional Superintendent of Police, City Shailendra Kumar Singh said that Constable Ratnesh Prajapati and Constable Rajat Pandey were deployed to protect BJP leader Manoj Singh. At around 6 am on Sunday morning, a youth named Avnish was shot while cooking at his home. He was then taken to the district hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. The family has been informed that the ASP said that police from the field unit and the local police station are busy investigating the case. Necessary action will be taken.
