The Gujarat High Court has cleared the way for Aamir Khan’s son Junaid’s film ‘Maharaj’ and the makers have released the film on Netflix. There were allegations against this film that it might hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus. The film was earlier scheduled to release on June 14. However, on June 13, the court temporarily stayed the release of the film. On June 21, the court’s decision again came in favor of the makers.
While giving the verdict, the court said that ‘there is nothing objectionable in this film and the film is not intended to hurt the sentiments of the Putishtimarg community. The film has been certified by CBFC after considering the relevant guidelines. The interim relief granted on June 13 has been withdrawn. Shortly after the court’s decision, the film began streaming on Netflix.
What allegations were made against the film?
The Bajrang Dal accused the film of hurting religious sentiments. The organization also said that the film’s poster appears to portray the Hindu priest in a negative light. The organization also said that the film is likely to be an attempt to defame Sanatan and Hindu religious leaders.
