Because, lately, the number of new investors and traders is continuously increasing to make money in the stock market. The special thing is that women are not left behind in this race either. The number of active women traders in the Indian stock market is increasing rapidly. At the same time, according to a report, girls are smarter than boys when it comes to making profits in the stock market. While most boys lose their wealth in the stock market. You might not believe it, so let’s have a look at the numbers…
In fact, a SEBI report is being discussed these days. After seeing this report, male traders or sensible people will definitely stay away from derivatives trading. Let us know what was revealed in the report…
Revealed in the report.
In the SEBI report, it was said how many losses have been suffered by which type of trader in a year and who has made how much profit. Obviously, the losses have been suffered only by small or retail traders, who come with less capital and dream of becoming millionaires overnight by buying options. The winners are the foreign investors and traders who have a lot of capital. But this SEBI report reveals another truth. That is, girls are smarter than boys in the stock market and especially in derivatives trading and suffer less losses.

What we are talking about is disclosed in the SEBI report is futures and options i.e. F&O trading. According to the report, the participation of women in this type of trading has also increased. In this, women have performed better than men. Women, due to their wisdom and prudence, have suffered fewer losses than men.
Women lose less
Women’s share in F&O trading declined from 14.9 per cent in FY 2021-22 to 13.7 per cent in FY 2023-24, but women suffered relatively lesser losses. According to the SEBI report, in 2023-24, 91.9 per cent of men suffered losses in F&O trading, while only 86.3 per cent of women suffered losses. In other words, only 8.1 per cent of men made profits, while around 14 per cent of women managed to make money.
Female traders recorded an average loss of Rs 75,973, which is lower than the average loss of male traders of Rs 88,804. This performance of women shows that they work smarter in the market swings and implement their strategies at the right time.
The bitter truth of F&O trading
The SEBI survey also revealed that F&O trading is quite tough. More than 90 out of 100 traders suffer losses. F&O traders recorded a total loss of Rs 1.8 lakh crore in the last three years, affecting more than 1 crore individual traders. The average loss of these traders was Rs 2 lakh per person. If we talk about profits, only 1% of traders made a profit of more than Rs 1 lakh after transaction costs.
