Accused in police custody
In Uttar Pradesh’s Kushinagar, a Maulana lured and abducted a Dalit minor girl and forcibly had physical relations with her and made her pregnant. The Maulana also converted the woman and changed her name. After the minor went missing from home, when his mother came to know about his whereabouts, the family contacted the police. Police have arrested the accused. The minor has been handed over to his family.
According to information, the name of the accused Maulana is Mohammad Owais, who used to stay at the village mosque in Jatha Bazar for prayers and religious education. He had a relationship with a minor girl living in the same village. After this Maulana convinced him and took him to Dinajpur in West Bengal. Going there, Maulana converted the minor and also gave him a new name.
About 9 months passed after the incident, after which the minor’s mother came to know that her daughter was in West Bengal. After which the family reached the police. The family accused Maulana Mohammad Owais that he came to the village to teach the children but trapped the minor with him. Family members said he was constantly searching for his daughter but eventually got bored and stopped searching.
Superintendent of Police Santosh Mishra said that based on the complaint of the family members, the accused Maulana has been arrested and the minor has been handed over to the family members. During police interrogation, Maulana said that he lived in many cities. The police are now probing Maulana’s activities at the respective police stations in those cities. Police said that a case has been registered against Maulana under serious sections.
