Gifts, money…every ‘offer’ for marriage is being given, but not being received by the bride and groom; Officials are worried

In Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Sarkar organizes mass marriages for daughters or widows of poor families every year. All the wedding expenses are borne by the government. Apart from this, gifts of thousands of rupees are also given to brides. This time the date is from 9th July to 15th July. But this time the officials are not getting the bride and groom. Officials are worried about how to conduct mass marriages in such a situation.

In a group marriage, the government spends 51 thousand rupees on the daughter’s marriage. 35 thousand rupees is paid in cash into the bank account. A gift of ten thousand rupees is given to the bride. The remaining six thousand rupees are spent on marriage arrangements. Apart from this, gifts are also given to newly married couples. The Directorate of Social Welfare Department has given Kanpur city a target of 1918 couples to get married. Along with this auspicious time has also been given in the state.

According to the order of social welfare department, weddings are to be held in every district in July. 9, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15 dates have also been mentioned for this. After this, the wedding is scheduled to take place in November and December. Marriage dates in January, February and March next year are also suggested according to auspicious times. Officials forgot to keep track of time while announcing the muhurta for Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s primary mass wedding scheme. The order was issued on 27th June. The date of marriage was given as 9th July.

Less than 50 applications were received

Fewer than 50 applications for group marriages have come online. The department does not consider it appropriate to conduct marriages with so few applications. It is not possible to verify all applications. A tender should also be made for purchasing gift items. Therefore, the department is preparing to conduct marriages in the auspicious season starting from November.

300 applications are pending

The target of mass marriages in the district could not be achieved in the last financial year. Surprisingly, 300 applications are pending. Officials are considering the pending applications. Eligible applicants will be married after verification. Social Welfare Officer District Social Welfare Officer said that the date of mass marriage is very close. Planning a wedding in July is not possible. Preparations are being made for weddings from November. Work will be done so that as many applications as possible are received and verified on time.
