An inmate lodged in jail on rape and POCSO Act charges has committed suicide by hanging himself with an electric cable in the yoga hall of the jail. The deceased prisoner had come to the jail from Pilkhua police station in Hapud district only 14 days ago. The police have taken the body of the accused into their custody and sent it for post-mortem, the family of the deceased alleged that Pradeep, in-charge of Chijarsi police post, demanded money to release the deceased, but he could not give the money. To the police, the police were sent to jail.
Jail Superintendent Sitaram Sharma, giving information about the suicide of the prisoner, said that the deceased youth, Shivam Rajput, was a resident of Narena police station area of ​​Bulandshahr district. who was sent to jail under the Rape and POCSO Act by the Hapur Police on 10 September 2024. The youth committed suicide by hanging himself from a fan in the library inside the jail at 10 o’clock on Tuesday night. The youth died before prison staff saw him commit suicide.
The police sent the body for postmortem
After the death of the youth, the police videographed the scene and took down his body. Later, the jail administration informed the police of the local police station about the incident. The police reached the spot and took possession of the body from the jail and sent it for postmortem. Police arrested the deceased after luring a 12-year-old girl and taking the girl with him. The girl talked about rape in her statement. Following this, on September 10, the Pilkhuwa police station registered a case against him under relevant sections and sent him to jail.

After which the family members reached the jail. Giving information, the uncle of the deceased said that late on Tuesday at 12.30 pm, he got information that Shivam had committed suicide by hanging. The family of the deceased alleged that Pradeep, in-charge of Chijarsi police post, hatched a conspiracy and sent Shivam to jail. Pradeep demanded lakhs of rupees in the name of ending the case, but when he could not meet the demand for outpost charges, he sent Shivam to jail.
