Adani Group, in collaboration with an Israeli company, will set up a semiconductor manufacturing plant in Maharashtra with a total investment of Rs 83,947 crore ($10 billion). This information was given in an official statement. This plan by Gautam Adani may create tough competition for China. Because, after Tata Group, Adani is the second group that will invest on a large scale in the semiconductor sector.
According to the information, the Maharashtra government has approved four huge hi-tech projects, which also include the Adani Group project in partnership with Tower Semiconductor. A total investment of Rs 1.17 lakh crore is expected in these projects and around 29,000 jobs are expected to be created. Officials said that these projects were approved in the meeting of the sub-committee related to the industry department of the state cabinet on Thursday afternoon.
Shinde gave a statement
In a statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) on Friday, it was said that under these projects, there will be investments in areas such as semiconductors and electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said that these projects will help strengthen the local supply chain and promote technological innovation and R&D. Shinde said that these projects will help stakeholders associated with Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and provide training and skill development opportunities to the local workforce.

Adani’s semiconductor project
According to the statement, Adani Group will launch a massive semiconductor manufacturing project in collaboration with Israeli company Tower Semiconductor. An investment of Rs 58,763 crore will be made in the first phase of the project and Rs 25,184 crore in the second phase. The total investment in this project will be Rs 83,947 crore and is expected to provide employment to 15,000 people. This will be the first step in the field of semiconductor manufacturing for Adani Group, which operates in diverse businesses.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on social media platform X that the Adani-Tower alliance will set up this chip manufacturing plant at Taloja on the outskirts of Mumbai. He said that in the first phase, 40,000 chips will be manufactured per month while in the second phase this capacity will be increased to 80,000 per month.
These companies are also investing
Apart from this, Skoda Auto Volkswagen India will launch an electric vehicle manufacturing project in Pune with an investment of Rs 12,000 crore which will provide employment to 1,000 people. According to the official statement, Toyota Kirloskar Motor Company will bring its massive electric vehicle manufacturing project to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. There will be an investment of Rs 21,273 crore in this project and about 12,000 jobs will be created.
Apart from this, Raymond Luxury Cottons will set up a large project at Amravati where products will be manufactured by spinning, yarn dyeing, jute weaving, cotton jute, mesta and cotton weaving. There will be an investment of Rs 188 crore in this project and 550 people will get employment.
Earlier, in the Cabinet Sub-Committee meeting held in July, projects worth Rs 80,000 crore were approved. In the last two months, projects with an investment of Rs 2 lakh crore have been approved which will create 35,000 jobs.
