Gang of miscreants in Mathura, firing outside SSP’s house in old feud, constable shot dead

A constable was shot dead by four miscreants on Saturday night near a tank checkpoint located in an army area in Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura. A constable who was seriously injured in the incident has been admitted to the hospital. The constable injured in the incident was posted in Badaun district and had come home on leave these days. The office of SSP and DM is also near the incident site. Hence the news of this incident has created a commotion in the police department. SSP and SP City themselves reached the spot and investigated the matter.

The SSP formed seven separate police teams at the spot to nab the accused. These teams have raided the possible hideouts of the accused. Police said that the incident took place at around 12.15 pm on Saturday night in Sadar Bazar Police Station area. Constable Ajit Putra Kamal Singh, resident of Roshan Vihar Colony here, had an altercation with four youths near Laxmi Nagar Police Station, Jamuna Par, Tank Charrasta. They all know each other.

During this fight, a youth named Anil Chaudhary took out a pistol hidden in his underwear and fired at Constable Ajit. The bullet hit Ajit in the neck and he fell on the ground and started biting in pain. Coincidentally, women police station in-charge Ranjana Sachan reached the spot during patrolling and rushed the injured constable and his colleagues Vasudev’s son Saurabh and Chandrapal’s son Anoop to the hospital. The miscreants ran away after seeing the police vehicle.

Here the doctors have referred the constable to a big hospital after first aid. During police interrogation, the constable’s colleague Anoop said that he recognized three of the four accused. All three are tempo drivers, while the fourth accused is in government service. The SSP said that 7 teams have been formed to nab the accused. SP City itself is keeping an eye on all these teams. Apart from this, efforts are also being made to trace the accused with the help of electronic surveillance.
