Nalanda’s recognition of education is global. This is mentioned in many pages of history. In recent years, it has also received recognition thanks to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Nitish Kumar is a resident of Kalyanbigha, Nalanda. Leaving these two things aside, there is another identity of Nalanda. It is known as the epicenter of the paper leak.

Be it CAT exam of 2003 or NEET exam of 2024. In the last 25 years, whenever the issue of paper leak was raised in the country, it was always linked to Nalanda in Bihar. The story of the mastermind here made many headlines in the national media. Reason is also the story of its mastermind. In the year 2003, 33-year-old Ranjit Don leaked the papers of major exams like CAT, now Sanjeev Mukhia is said to be the mastermind behind the NEET paper leak.

Amidst all this, the big question is that how did Nalanda district of Bihar become a hotspot for paper leaks? Let’s try to know the answer to this question in detail…

Mafia Ranjit Don’s first story

In the year 2003, CAT conducted the entrance exam for admission to Indian Institute of Management. For this, 137 centers were set up in 26 cities of the country, but the CAT paper was leaked an hour before the exam. CAT had to cancel its exam due to paper leak. The investigation of this paper cancel CAT case was then handed over to the CBI.

When the CBI started investigating, it came to know about the mastermind of this whole game. That mastermind was 33-year-old Ranjit Singh alias Ranjit Don of Nalanda. After this the CBI swung into action and launched swift raids to arrest Ranjit Don.

Finally, Ranjit Don was caught by the CBI from a hotel in Delhi. After the arrest of Ranjit Don, the entire country was left silent by his revelations. According to Ranjit, he has leaked many exam papers before.

He took Rs 10 lakh from each candidate for leaking IIM papers. During investigation, CBI came to know that Ranjit Don cheated in MBBS, CAT and Bank PO exams. He himself holds an MBBS degree from Darbhanga Medical College. After this Ranjit Don remained behind the bars for many years. Currently he is on bail and active in politics. Ranjit Don has also contested Assembly and Legislative Council elections from Nalanda, but has not won any election so far.

Ranjit Don’s name also came to SIT’s radar in the 2014 PMT exam. He was also questioned. However, he was not arrested.

Now know about Sanjeev Mukhia

Sanjeev Mukhia alias Luton is said to be the mastermind behind the NEET 2024 paper leak. According to the Bihar Economic Offenses Wing, the NEET paper came first to Sanjeev. Sanjeev distributed this paper to 10-15 candidates. Sanjeev is a resident of Nagarnausa in Nalanda and was arrested in 2015 in the paper leak case. However, this time he is yet to be caught by the police. In 2012, Sanjeev’s name came up in the food inspector’s paper fraud. Several members of his gang were arrested in this investigation.

Sanjeev’s son Shiv Kumar is a doctor, while his wife has been a village head. The investigating agency is gathering more evidence about Sanjeev. The Economic Offenses Wing is also continuously trying to arrest him.
