How has the ghost of movies changed?
India’s cinematic history is very old. But even older legends echo in the country, namely, those street stories we all grew up hearing from our grandmothers. Even today, mothers feed their children sitting on banyan or neem trees, telling stories of cuddling the dead bodies of some old village witches. I mean the existence of ghosts is very well established in the folklore of our country and filmmakers have tried to recreate the same stories on the big screen. But now technology has changed and with it these ghosts of cinema have also changed.
With new technology, the appearance of ghosts in horror films has also completely changed. In earlier cinema, if a girl became a ghost, lenses were inserted into her eyes. If a boy used to be a ghost his face would be heavily made up, but now that is not the case at all. Today’s cinema uses technology to create different faces of ghosts.
Also, in earlier times, when people had to be scared, the makers would focus on the sound of the door, the sound of water falling, and the camera angles and lighting. However, the story is completely different in today’s films. Ghosts in today’s films are shaped with the help of VFX, then motion settings are made according to the scene on their ready VFX, giving them a realistic feel. Makers design ghosts according to the needs of today’s generation. But there is one more thing by which today’s ghosts are identified, that is their back story which nowadays has a special kind of construction. To make the character more interesting, today we will tell you how both the appearance and the story of the ‘ghost’ in movies have changed with the change in cinema.
