Baijanath Rawat
SC and ST Commission has been constituted in UP. Former MLA Baijanath Rawat has been made the chairman of the commission while two vice-chairmen and 16 members have been made. The commission and the corporation are being formed after BJP’s poor performance in the Lok Sabha elections. Backward Classes Commission and Women Commission were also formed. Baijanath Rawat, a resident of UP’s Barabanki district, has been an MP, MLA and Minister of State. Baijanath Rawat comes from a Dalit family.
There is no doubt that this step has been taken by the government in view of the by-elections so that it can erase the memory of the bitter experience of the Lok Sabha results. Although this decision of the government was in controversy for several days regarding the age limit, Baijanath Rawat was finally made the President.
Expressed gratitude to the PM and CM for getting the responsibility
Baijanath Rawat also expressed happiness over the UP government’s decision and his appointment as the chairman of the commission. He has also thanked PM Modi and CM Yogi Adityanath for this. Rawat said that whatever responsibility is assigned to him, he will do it with full responsibility and work for justice.
Rawat is a one-time MP and Minister of State in the UP government and three-time MLA. Rawat is counted among very simple-minded and honest people. Even after being in politics for a long time, he always stayed away from factional politics. He also has a distinct identity in UP politics due to his clean image.
Away from active politics
Baijanath is currently away from active politics and lives and farms in his village. It is believed that the Yogi government has given him important responsibility and also freed him from the pain of his detractors who used to remind him of neglect in the party. While active in politics, Baijanath received many promotions but his feet always remained on the ground.
Changed sides once, but then returned home
According to Baijanath Rawat, he became an MLA three times but his tenure was short all three times, due to which he did not get a chance to work fully. In 1998, he entered Parliament winning from the Barabanki seat, was a three-time MLA and also a one-time Minister of State for Power in UP. Baijanath Rawat, a lifelong BJP worker, also once switched sides to join the Samajwadi Party, but then got bored and returned to his old family.
