The Uttar Pradesh government on Friday asked officials to ensure that Noida International Airport begins commercial operations by December this year. State Chief Secretary Durga Shankar Mishra issued these instructions after a review meeting with concerned officials and an inspection of the airport site in Jewar area of ​​Gautam Buddha Nagar.
Out of the four phases of the project, the development of the first phase is underway. The chief secretary’s visit comes at a time when Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL), which is developing the airport, has extended the commercial operation date from September 29, 2024 to April, 2025.
YIAPL is a Special Purpose Unit (SPV) of Zurich Airport International AG, which is developing the ambitious project of the Government of Uttar Pradesh. During the review meeting, YIAPL informed the Chief Secretary that Tata Projects is working on completing the construction work of the ATC (Air Traffic Control) building.
Installation work of ATC equipment
According to an official statement, the building will be handed over to Airports Authority of India (AAI) for installation of ATC equipment by August. The installation work will be completed by September. The statement said that electrification work is currently underway on the airstrip and apron (aircraft parking).
Navigation equipment
Navigation equipment including glide path antennas and localizers have already been installed near the airstrip. During the inspection of the terminal building, the company told the chief secretary that work on the facade and roof was in progress.
