Congress on Friday announced the names of candidates for 31 assembly seats for the Haryana assembly elections. In the first list, Congress has given tickets to five women, including female wrestler Vinesh Phogat. The five women who have been given tickets by the Congress are Shaili Chaudhary from Narayangarh, Renu Bala from Sadhaura, Vinesh Phogat from Julana, Shakuntala Khatak from Kalanaur and Geeta Bhukkal from Jhajjar.
Of these, Vinesh Phogat is a new face, while the remaining four are sitting MLAs. The list was released hours after Vinesh Phogat and Tokyo Olympics bronze medalist Bajrang Punia joined the Congress.

Tickets to 3 leaders near Kumari Selja
Among the 31 candidates announced by the Congress, three leaders close to Sirsa MP Kumari Selja have been given tickets. Tickets have been given to Pradeep Chaudhary from Kalka, Shaili Chaudhary from Narayangarh and Renu Bala from Sadhaura. All three are sitting MLAs.

Three Muslim faces have got a chance in the first list
Three Muslim candidates have been fielded in the first list. This includes three sitting MLAs Maman Khan, Muhammad Ilyas and Aftab Ahmed. 12 Jat, 8 SC, 4 OBC, 2 Brahmin, 3 Muslim, 1 Punjabi and 1 Sikh candidates have been given tickets in the first Congress list. Noah riot accused Maman Khan has also been made a candidate.
State president Udaybhan got the ticket
In the first list, only one leader, Udaybhan, who lost in the 2019 assembly elections, has been given a ticket from the Hodal (SC) assembly seat. Udaybhan is close to former CM Bhupendra Singh Hooda and is the president of the Haryana Pradesh Congress.
MLA Kuldeep Vats has again made himself a candidate from the Baldi assembly seat. The party has given an opportunity to Bishan Lal Saini to contest from Radaur seat. Overall, the Congress has given tickets to 27 sitting MLAs out of the 31 announced so far. After winning the election from Ambala Lok Sabha seat, MLA Varun Mulla became the MP, the election was held in his seat.
The party has also fielded Mewa Singh against Chief Minister and BJP candidate Naib Singh Saini in Ladwa seat. Assembly elections will be held in Haryana on October 5, while the results will be declared on October 8.
