The first female superstar of Tamil film who ruled from Bollywood to the South industry, started dancing at the age of 7 and is still shaking her legs till the age of 91. She is none other than Vyjayanthimala, who turned 91 on 13 August 2024. He acted in many great films and won the hearts of many people with his performance. He worked with big superstars.
Vyjayanthimala started her acting career in the year 1949 with the Tamil film ‘Vazkai’. After this he worked in many South films. After making a name for herself in South films, she turned to Bollywood and played the role of Chandramukhi in Bimal Roy’s Devdas in 1955. However, she was not the first choice for the role. Earlier this role was offered to many actresses including Nargis. But finally the filmmakers cast him without the consent of the film’s dialogue writer Nabendu Ghosh. Because Nabendu felt that she was too young for the role of Chandramukhi.

But when the film was ready, everyone was surprised to see her performance in the role of Chandramukhi. He proved everyone wrong, and gave a terrific performance. She was awarded the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress for this role. But she refused to accept the award saying that if it had to be given, she believed that the best actress award should go to Suchitra Sen, who played Paro in the film. Like him she was also in the lead role. However, after this he was honored with several major awards.
