On Thursday, two groups of students exchanged gunfire and scuffled in the grounds opposite the library canteen of the Kennedy Hall of the Aligarh Muslim University campus in Uttar Pradesh. On hearing the sound of gunfire in the campus, there was a panic and a stampede among the students present there. As soon as the information was received, the police force including AMU security reached the spot. However, before this the attackers had committed the crime and escaped on their bikes. The police immediately admitted two students injured in the firing and fight to the hospital for treatment.
Regarding the incident, AMU Proctor Wasim Ali said that at around 4 pm on Thursday, information was received about a fight between two groups of students in the ground in front of Kennedy Hall. Firing also took place. As soon as the information was received, the security personnel reached the spot. Security noticed that Suhail, a BA student, had injury marks on his forehead and chest. Another student was also injured. Security immediately informed the police. As soon as the information was received, the police team reached the spot and admitted the injured students to the hospital.
The police checked the CCTV footage
Proctor Waseem Ali said that investigations revealed that the assailants who attacked the two students were studying paramedics at AMU. There were also some other students, who fled on bikes after the firing and beatings. The police investigated the incident site and also analyzed the CCTV footage. Proctor Wasim Ali said that the attackers would be identified based on the CCTV footage and strict action would be taken against them.
There was a fight in the morning, firing in the evening
According to sources, on Thursday morning, two groups of students had a fight over something. A compromise agreement was reached between the two groups of students in the matter. However, the attacking students from the opposite side continued firing and beating even after the settlement agreement. Along with this, based on the complaint of the injured student in the fight, a case was registered against the attacking students in the police station.
ASP informed about the incident
ASP Amrit Jain said that there was a fight between two parties over some issue in the library canteen of the AMU campus. The injured were immediately admitted to AMU’s Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, where everyone is said to be out of danger. The police also received information that there was a shootout between the two sides. On being informed of the incident, the local police immediately reached the spot and conducted an investigation. A special police team has been formed to identify the accused. The attackers will be caught soon.
