Students studying Law (LLB) have got a major relief from the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court has directed the BCI to include final year students in the AIBE exam, meaning that now students who have completed the final year law course will also be able to appear in the AIBE exam to be held on November 24. In fact, the Supreme Court has given this interim decision on a petition challenging the decision of the Bar Council of India. A bench headed by CJI DY Chandrachud gave this decision.

Recently, the Supreme Court sought a response from the Bar Council of India (BCI) on a plea to allow final year law students to appear for the All India Bar Examination. In fact, final year (last semester) law students were barred from registering and appearing for the AIBE examination to be held on November 24, following which the 3-year LLB course at the Delhi University Campus Law Center and Law Center was closed. 9 final year law students had petitioned the Supreme Court and sought to appear in the examination.

The Bar Council was notified

The petitioner students argued that the notification was against the Supreme Court’s decision, while the Constitution Bench said that final year law students should be allowed to sit for the AIBE exam. The bench directed the Bar Council of India to conduct the examination twice a year.
