Namitha Thapar, the shark of Sony TV’s business reality show ‘Shark Tank India’, is an executive director of a major pharmaceutical company. Recently she has spoken on the important topic of ‘surrogacy’ on social media. Namitha has raised her concerns by questioning India’s surrogacy laws. Apart from this, these sharks of Shark Tank India have also demanded changes in surrogacy laws. Namitha believes that now people need to openly discuss issues like surrogacy. Also, people’s thinking about this process should also be changed.
Actually, in surrogacy, a woman (surrogate mother) carries someone else’s child in her womb for 9 months and after giving birth to that child, the woman hands it over to her parents. Surrogacy is not allowed for single women, widows, LGBTQ couples in India. Namita posted her thoughts in support of surrogacy on her Instagram account. In the caption of this post, Namitha writes, “I feel that many clauses in surrogacy laws in India are currently unfair, there is a dire need to change them. We must discuss and discuss the wrongs contained in such laws.”
