Congress leader beats up man with supporters
A video of Congress leader Roshni Kaushal Jaiswal beating up a man in Varanasi went viral on social media. Jaiswal is accused of harassing and threatening to rape the man who assaulted him. Police have detained two people in this matter.
Roshni Kaushal Jaiswal claims to be the National Secretary of the Indian Youth Congress. The assailant has been identified as Rajesh Singh. SHO (Lalpur-Pandepur Police Station) Vivek Kumar Pathak said that a cross FIR has been registered. Two people have been detained on charges of disturbing the peace. Further investigations are underway.

After filing a complaint with the police, Jaiswal said that for the last four years I was being threatened on social media by a person named Rajesh Singh. Two days ago he used my full name in a rape threat. When I applied to the District Magistrate and the police, I decided to meet his mother, wife and daughter and tell them about his deeds. I don’t want to be among those who get raped and killed and then people do candle marches… I have lodged an FIR.
A senior Congress leader said, “We stand with Rosh because vulgar and abusive language was used.” We do not support violence, but the way they are being abused on social media would make anyone angry. State Congress president Ajay Rai said, Roshni is our office bearer and we are with her. Anyone gets agitated when faced with such comments against a woman.

A complaint was lodged at the police station against Roshni and her supporters on behalf of Rajesh Singh’s wife Annu. Annu alleges that Roshni and her husband Kushal came to their house and created a ruckus. Husband Rajesh was thrown out of the house and beaten. He was also beaten up. He was robbed of his chain and cash. Police have registered a case against Roshni.
